Thanksgiving Dinner

Image
Thanksgiving Dinner      Every year we celebrate the holiday of thanksgiving I see it as a year to be thankful for all we lost and all we gained. This year I feel like me and my family has had so much to be grateful for. Overall we got to be thankful for our food our family and our home. When we first learn about thanksgiving we learned it as how the pilgrims made peace with the natives by offering a dinner where both could exchange traditions. Today many of us know this is not true thanksgiving Day is a day connected to numerous assassinations of the native Americans. But today many of us will go to church and be grateful to God for everything we had this past year for me and my family we are grateful for finally having our own apartment after being homeless for 2 years and going from house to house.     Thanksgiving is about the food and getting family together tonight we all feast as a family maybe dance a little bit and even  have a couple of drink...

Empanadillas de pollo

Image
Empanadilla de Pollo            This delicious snack which has many names example, pastelitos, empanadillas, empanadas, and so many more is very common in many Spanish cultures. Everyone has its own style in making these and many people stuff these with different meats. Some people like my family stuff these with Guayaba and cheese which makes them super sweet or super cheesy. Then there are the different meats in which we can stuff them with example Shrimp, ground beef,  corn beef, and chicken, ham and cheese, Peperoni and cheese and so many more. If you are walking in the streets of Boston and you waiting for the bus and you want a warm snack you can go into any Spanish or just any corner store and ask them for a pastelito they will cost a dollar and it's a great snack. You will find them anywhere in Boston, and this is what's so great about them anybody can do these.      My husband adores these...

Pastelillos de Guayaba                       I have so much memories of food in my childhood, but one of my favorit memories was with my grandfather. My grandfather used to pick me up from school in his car, and after school he used to take me and my siblings to the bakery where would get a treat from him before going home. I remeber My little sisther and my brother going crazy with all the different pastries availabel for there choosing. But ever since I could remember I have always had a love for pastelillos de Guyaba. I remember how he used to give each $5 and we would get a drink and a pastry, Remeber taking them home and being able to spoil our dinner just because our grandfather would spoiled us.       When moving to america My mom used to buy them at the spanish supermarket but they never tasted the same they whe...

Guanimos con Bacalao

Image
Guanimo con Bacalao     This tasty but simple plate of food, I found out about it when I was age 15 My best friend's mom made this for me and I remember asking her what this was and she told me guanimo con bacalao.  This was the first time I ever tried these and I instantly fell in love with them. I just remember when I was pregnant with the firstborn I wanted to eat these really bad but nobody in my house knew how to make them.  A couple of days ago While I was At work I looked up the recipe for making these, I remember my grandmother telling me that these were harder to make than what they looked like.  I wanted to prove them wrong and make them so they could try them because I know my mom loves them as well. So I decided to make them and ill be completely honest throughout the first batch because I added too much boiling water.      The Guanimos are made of  All-purpose flour, Boiling water, and salt you mix this and add flour as needed as...

Home Made Chili

Home Made chili               Before I started my cooking Journey and became the main provider for my family I learned how to cook and one of the first things I ever tried making was the chili. Most of everything that I have learned to cook has been from Youtube (link down below).       These have become the favorite recipe for my family especially my husband. It's a very simple chili because my husband does not like all the extra ingredients like the onions or the tomatoes witch is what makes the chili neither does he like the spicy ( that's a Bummer).  If you have ever been to a Spanish person's house you know that they love to feed their guest Last night I made chili for my boyfriend and his Friends (homies). I decided to do something quick and easy that the guys will enjoy and I stopped at the supermarket ...
